Ground Reaction Force (GRF) is the reactive force exerted by the playing surface against an athlete's body in accordance with Newton's Third Law of Motion. In modern tennis, GRF represents the primary energetic fountainhead for every dynamic stroke, serving as the first link in the biomechanical kinetic chain.
Neurological Control of Ground Reaction Force
Ground Reaction Force is not merely a mechanical phenomenon; it is governed by high-speed neurological feedback loops orchestrated by the Central Nervous System (CNS). Before an athlete can generate force against the court, the brain must predict and stabilize the body's posture through Anticipatory Postural Adjustments (APAs).
