Grip Pressure in Tennis
Grip pressure affects both control and power. Too tight a grip restricts wrist action, reduces racquet head speed, and causes forearm fatigue. Too loose a grip causes loss of control. The optimal pressure varies: about 4-5 out of 10 during the swing, briefly squeezing to 6-7 at contact. The continental grip for serves and volleys demands less pressure than the eastern or western grips.
